This unique class series, based on Acharya Susan Chapman's The Five Keys to Mindful Communication, will explore the principles of Contemplative Psychology. Using simple methods and metaphors, participants learn to identify toxic conversation patterns and explore what to do when "the same old strategies" leave us anxious, angry, fearful or demoralized. The workshop includes short talks, dialogues, Mudra Space Awareness exercises and mindfulness meditation. The material is based on the Five Buddha Family principles, but presents them in a manner specific to the difficulties of communication. Because our relationship with communication is through our five senses, the series includes Mudra Space Awareness, an experiential set of body-mind meditations designed by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

Click to read a short article on the material, from The Shambhala Sun's Mindful Living Magazine (2010).

The series will include three Thursday evening classes (NOTE: except the 12th --> Tuesday), 7-9pm: Jan 31st, Feb 7 and Feb 12th, with a culminating all-day seminar (9-5pm, Saturday Feb 23rd).
