Membership

The Vancouver Shambhala Centre is a community of practitioners devoted to the practice of mindfulness-awareness meditation and the application of meditation to daily life for individuals and society.  For more than 40 years, Vancouver Shambhala has been providing a place for people to learn to meditate and to practice together. It is an entirely volunteer-run, donation-supported organization. The Vancouver Shambhala Centre depends on donations from members and friends as well as on fees for specific programmes to cover its costs.

In addition to supporting the continued existence of the Centre, a member may choose to request a personal meditation instructor, enroll in the world wide web network of Shambhala and have access to its resources, and be invited to community events or to take on volunteer activities.

Because we are entirely volunteer-run, there are plenty of volunteer opportunities.  If a financial contribution is not feasible, please consider offering your time or energy to assist in running the organization and maintaining the capability for meditation practice and other activities.

If membership does not appeal but you would like to support the Centre financially, we would be delighted to consider you a ‘Friend’.

Your membership contributions are tax deductible – you will receive a charitable donation tax receipt at the end of each year.
