‘The Art of Being Human’ is a contemplative program for beginners and experienced practitioners…offering Meditation instruction and practice, teachings and group discussion. As the introduction to the Way of Shambhala path it shows how to take the challenges of daily life in our modern society as opportunities for both contemplative practice and social action.

As human beings, we long for sanity, compassion and inspiration in our lives. According to the Shambhala teachings, this longing is a manifestation of basic goodness—the dignity and wakefulness that we all possess. Level I, a key introductory program open to all, presents the practice of meditation as a way to uncover and contact this innate dignity and wakefulness.

The workshop includes thorough instruction in meditation, the practice of sitting and walking meditation, group discussions and talks by senior teachers.

This is the first time that a Way of Shambhala program is being offered on the North Shore: in St. Andrew's United Church where weekly guided meditation practice has been offered by Shambhala meditation instructors for more than four years.
