The Shambhala Centre is very fortunate to host Khenpo David Karma Choephel for a 5 week Buddhist training program. The first class will be our regular Wednesday Open House on September 25. The second class will be the following day, Thursday Sept 26. Classes 3, 4 and 5 will be on subsequent Thursday evenings.
"Doing No Harm; Bringing Benefit" examines the Foundation Vehicle (Hinayana) and Mahayana (Great Vehicle) teachings on discipline, meditation, loving kindness, bodhicitta (awakened heart) and compassion.
Khenpo David Choephel was the late Ven. Thrangu Rinpoche's main English-language translator. He studied Buddhist philosophy at the Vajra Vidya Institute in Namo Buddha, Nepal, and Sarnath, India, and earned the title of Khenpo, essentially a PhD in the Tibetan system. He translates for the Seventeenth Gyalwang Karmapa, and lamas (senior teachers) of the Kagyu lineage. He has translated numerous books, including Vivid Awareness by Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, Shantideva’s Way of the Bodhisattva, and the Ninth Karmapa’s teachings on abhidharma Jewels from the Treasury, among others.
