Basic Buddhadharma - Things you need to know about the path
with Martin Evans
Thursdays, starting January 9
7 - 9 pm
This seven week course looks at the Buddhist path of meditation and study. We will discuss walking the Buddhist path in a pure way, the Four Noble Truths, the Five Skandhas, working with emotions on and off the meditation cushion, understanding our psychology from a meditator's point of view with the eight states of consciousness, emptiness (sunyata) and reality beyond our concepts, the Bodhisattva path, and a glimpse of tantra.
Each class begins with a short period of meditation, talk, discussion and tea.
Martin Evans began to study Buddhism in the early 1970’s and began to study and practice with Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche in earnest in 1976. He has also studied with the Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche and Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche in the past few decades. He has been teaching since 1981 and continues to explore the unique teachings of the Trungpa Rinpoche.
