Shambhala Training: Birth of the Warrior

Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday
March 1-3

The “Heart of Warriorship” Shambhala Training curriculum consists of five weekend programmes that include meditation training and practice, talks by senior instructors, personal interviews and group discussions. These five weekends provide a strong foundation in mindfulness-awareness meditation practice, emphasizing the development of genuineness, confidence, humour, and dignity within the complexity of daily life.

This second weekend focuses on developing precision in our meditation practice, which helps us recognize habitual patterns and underlying fears. This helps us learn to trust our underlying basic goodness and relax into a more open way of being. There are talks, discussion groups, group and one-on-one meditation instruction. A light breakfast is provided on Saturday and Sunday.

Martin Evans began to study Buddhism in the early 1970’s. He has studied with Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, the Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche and Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche. He has been teaching meditation and Buddhism since 1981, and is a regular teacher at the Vancouver Shambhala Centre, and online on Ocean

Charlaine Avery is a longtime Shambhala student and registered clinical counsellor specializing in Discernment counselling and Couples Counselling.

Shambhala Training is a secular meditation training that develops fearlessness, confidence, openness and gentleness towards ourselves and our world. These qualities arise out of meditation practice and study of Shambhala warriorship. Shambhala Training welcomes people of all religious traditions as well as those who do not follow a particular spiritual path.

PREREQUISITE: Shambhala Training Level 1: The Art of Being Human, recently offered in December 2023.
